Unterricht auf Englisch - Themennachmittag

Theme Afternoon Grades 3 and 4: Exploring the world of Leonardo Da Vinci:

Leonardo Da Vinci sketched and designed new techniques for bridge building back in the 15 hundreds. Some of the designs weren’t built until 4 hundred years later. The children built bridges as a follow up to our Da Vinci project in “Theme Afternoon”. The children reviewed several sketches and researched various bridge designs and techniques including arches and cross supports.

Step one was designing their own bridge on paper. They then went on to build a model of that individual design. Each building step was carefully planned and carried through in succession. Each child’s design was completely individual and inspiring as the children let their imagination and ideas bloom into solid structures.

Grades 3 and 4 had great fun making labyrinths in the workshop this year.

Step 1: We cut and measured the wood and glued each piece carefully together to create an authentic
            labyrinth pathway.

Step 2: We painted each labyrinth individually

Step 3: We built a second board for underneath the labyrinth. Then we secured both boards together
            with a screw.

Step 4: Time to drill the holes. You need a strong arm to hold that big drill!

Step 5: We cleaned off the woodchip and finished painting the labyrinth.

Then the real fun began…
